Kentucky crash 11 men, women, children dead van vs. tractor trailer 3/26/10

Ky. coroner says 11 dead in collision between truck, van carrying men, women, children MUNFORDVILLE, Ky. AP A coroner says at least 10 people were killed Friday in a fiery crash between a tractor-trailer and a van after the truck crossed over the median on an interstate highway in south-central Kentucky. The van was carrying men, women and children,Emergency Management Director Kerry McDaniel said. He said the tractor-trailer was going south on I-65 and crossed the median around 5:30 am CDT, striking the van head-on near Munfordville, about 75 miles south of Louisville. Hart County Coroner Jeff Roten confirmed the number dead in a phone call with The Associated Press. The truck hit a rock wall and burst into flames. McDaniel said the trucks driver was killed. Kentucky transportation officials say the interstate is expected to be closed for at least eight hours. McDaniel said the truck was burned beyond recognition. Its cargo included automobile wheel castings. The countys judge executive, Terry Martin, said the stretch of interstate where the accident occurred can be treacherous because it narrows from three lanes to two for motorists going south into Hart County. Thats where it seems like the bottleneck occurs, Martin said. I don't know if theyre just not seeing or slowing down, but it gets more congested." Gracie jiu jitsu kentucky - scott smith - spider monkeys - children's class

I recently visited Gracie Jiu Jitsu Kentucky in Taylorsville, Kentucky with head instructor and black belt, Scott Smith. I have been to a lot of gyms, filmed a lot of talented guys, but in this particular case, for the first time, I witnessed Jiu Jitsu in it's purest form. "Mr. Scott" (as the kids call him) does not teach watered down Jiu Jitsu. He teaches it in it's purest form the way Grandmaster Helio Gracie did. He teaches Jiu Jitsu as an art form, a way of life, a gentle art, a way for a smaller opponent to subdue a larger attacker. He focuses on the discipline and teaches it traditionally. His students are a direct portrayal of his teachings. Polite, respectful, talented, and loyal. His bully system allows children to live life with confidence and without worry and gives parents a piece of mind that their child can defend themselves in the event of a physical altercation or attack. More than 150 authors for adults and children were in attendance at this year's Southern Kentucky Book Fest., a free event organized by the partners of WKU Libraries, Warren County Public Library and Barnes & Noble Booksellers. It was held on April 18 at the Sloan Convention Center, and one of the featured authors was Elmo puppeteer Keven Clash. Seventeen year old Brydie White is emotionally stunted due to an accidental shooting death with which she was involved when she was an adolescent, the incident which she doesn't remember.
