Seven racegoers were taken to hospital when a horse jumped over a high fence into a crowd of about 50 spectators during the Grand Annual Steeplechase at Warrnambool racetrack on Thursday. Sorry but there is no way in hell I would stand that close to a jump in the first place for that reason exactly. You have to be aware of your surroundings and if there was anyway the horse could jump off the track and into where I was I would not stand there... people fall off the horses all the time in this sport causing lose horses. But that is horrible corse design though..

hey that's an idea, decide whether anything is valid based on your personal experience and not look at an issue based on information or research etc taken across the spectrum.. In fact maybe you could decide on all political and ethical issues too as clearly you must have had some experiences of that say if you haven;t broken your leg we don't need any doctors who can fix legs etc

ban jump racing? ban haters rights to protest! ban football? ban rugby? ban golf? racings a sport like any other! but ya dont see people hiding on the green of a golf course? or people trying to take the ball from a rugby player? same things as a person standing where they shouldnt of been! gimps!

@TheEquinoxka Seriously? You assume that there are only the two options. How about being loved and respected after retirement, rather than being used up by 4 and sent to the meat man? Horse racing isn't cruel- some horses are born to run.The way they race them and kill them if they don't do well is cruel. They should be treated as service dogs are, and found retirement homes- these horses spend their lives, their health and their souls to make their owners happy. It's the least the owner can do.

i hate horse racing ...
i hate horse racing... many horses die because of the way they breed them to have very light and brittle bones. once there bone breaks, probably 7 times out of ten they have to be put down. its a cruel and unneeded sport. its just not fair for the horse, i say for all of those accidents where jockeys have died, less horses shall be out under this torturer.

when this happened it upset me seeing how they made the track and why the poeple were angry at the horse when it was inoccent. Of course I feel sorry for the people though.
